Our client, Wasaya Airways is seeking an outgoing, motivated, and engaging individual to join their team in the role of Director, People. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, People is a highly influential role that is critical to the organization, delivering both strategic and tactical HR outcomes to support business strategy. The Director will be responsible for providing leadership for HR initiatives including talent and succession planning, learning and development, and overall operational excellence. The incumbent in this role will inspire a high performing team of professionals, working collaboratively to deliver key HR programs. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded senior professional who has demonstrated inspirational leadership and experience running HR teams. The successful candidate will have either a degree in or extensive experience in employment law and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, creative environment with a strong focus on execution. The candidate will be an accomplished facilitator and seasoned learning and development leader who can assess organizational learning needs and deliver impactful and sustainable enterprise strategies and solutions.

Duties:
Provide strategic leadership on business issues facing the organization  Contribute to the decision-making process of structuring and developing the organization for success  Actively support business initiatives and business needs with effective HR measures and promote positive employee relations in the work environment  Provide subject matter expertise on people plans and people change management strategies that enable effective business implementation, integration and organizational effectiveness  Lead to development of the People and Culture strategic plan and initiatives to support the business strategies  Contribute to the execution of the corporate business plan through the creation and implementation of the people strategies that attract, develop, and retain employees  Own and deliver talent and succession planning processes to provide proactive identification and development of leaders and employees for future roles  Delivers strategic and impactful learning strategies for the organization  Ensure the delivery of expertise and guidance to people leaders on areas of People & Culture  Reinforce appropriate application of HR policies, operational processes, standards, and procedures to ensure alignment with the organization's vision, mission and values and to ensure adherence with legislative requirements  Oversee the employee experience and ensure all processes for employee on-boarding and orientation are an informative and welcoming experience for all new staff  Foster a fun, innovative, empowering and engaging culture and environment  Proactively recommend changes to existing/historical practices  Work with partners to troubleshoot issues and implement optimal solutions for the business
Qualifications:
Education & Experience  Minimum 10 years of HR leadership experience  LLB, CHRP/CHRL designation or HR Specialty would be an asset  Exceptional HR operations, talent and development experience  Exceptional program management skills with the ability to multi-task Skills & Abilities  Demonstrated ability to work with multiple executive stakeholders and capable of providing effective guidance  Consulting skills and ability to persuade/influence business leaders on suggested actions for turning business issues/problems into viable HR/Business solutions  Problem solving skills, able to determine root cause of complex issues and arrive at sound business solutions Exceptional communicator and facilitator  Solid interpersonal management skills to work effectively Ability to attract, build, retain and inspire high-performing teams
