We are currently seeking an Employee Health & Education Specialist who will provide education, first aid and participate in attendance support and employee health programs. As a member of the Human Resources team, this position works with employees to improve overall health through prevention, recognition and treatment of illness and injury.

 Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) •:
Provides primary care and assessments for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illness. Provides case management of short term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims.
Facilitates early and safe return to work.
Interprets and promotes compliance with government legislation.
Providing on-site employee health nursing care, immunizations, and health counselling.
Coordinates and manages employee education.
Manage and leads staff education initiatives, and supports instructors and learners. 
Promote and contribute to advancing DRHC's strategic directions.
Develop, facilitate, and evaluate key education events/programs/workshops.
Provide mentorship and educational counseling to nursing staff.
Act as an advocate for employees by ensuring access to preventative health and safety measures
  Qualifications (include But Are Not Limited To):
Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BScN preferred.
OHS certification, preferred.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information.
Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs.
Computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience in a unionized environment an asset.
