FAQHow much do I pay a trainee?

Trainees must be paid at least minimum wage or that received by other employees performing similar work.

 

FAQAre employers given a training incentive?

Yes, Employers may be eligible for a training incentive.

 

FAQHow many trainees is an employer allowed?

An employer may hire as many trainees as he needs. 

 

FAQWhat happens if the training isn't working out?

In consulting with an Employment Advisor, concerns may be resolved. Otherwise, there is no obligation on the employer's part to continue with training.

 

FAQWhat happens if a trainee gets injured on the job?

Employers must report any accident to the Employment Advisor which happens on the job. WCB coverage is the responsibility of the delivery agency.

 

FAQCan we interview a trainee before committing to a placement?

Yes! Trainees can be interviewed and references can be checked.

 

FAQHow long is the training period?

Training period is flexible depending on the complexity of the job.

 

FAQHow many hours can a trainee work?

Trainees can work regular hours to a maximum of 44 hours/week.

 

FAQCan a trainee work shift work?

Yes! Trainees are expected to work the normal hours required by the business.

 

FAQAre we allowed to hire family members?

An employer cannot hire members of immediate family or family through marriage.
