OPEN UNTIL FILLED Reporting directly to the Finance Supervisor, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for all procedures related to payroll and will compensate employees accurately and on time in accordance with legislation and the Agencys Finance and Personnel Policies. This position requires excellent organizational skills and strict confidentiality.

 1. Prepare and monitor all functions of a bi-weekly payroll, including data input, calculation of balances, and creating manual cheques in accordance with Canada Revenue Agencys payroll legislation. 2. Input all payroll transactions for salary and hourly employees. 3. Keep a running total of employee balances including; sick days, holidays, and bereavement leave as well as preparing a fiscal yearend report of dollar amounts for employee holidays, sick time and Compensating Time-off (CTO) owing at March 31st. 4. Verify all time sheets to ensure that they are accurate and that overtime and leave forms are properly authorized. 5. Provide update to Supervisors for balances on CTO, sick time and holidays for their unit(s). ƒ 6. Ensure Registered Pension Plan contributions, Garnishments, Canada Revenue Agency or other liabilities are accurate and paid on time. 7. Pension Adjustment Reversals (PARs) must be done within 60 days of the employees withdrawals. A T10 must be issued to the employee. 8. Issue, input and ensure Records of Employment are accurate and issued to Service Canada using the ROE Web within 5 days of the pay period end date. 9. Run Year-end processes in Abra, balance and reconcile all T4's, including T4 and T4A Summary and create XML file to be uploaded to the CRA with the assistance of the HR Supervisor and Tech Department. 10. Maintain Payroll Records and ensure security of all documents relating to payroll. 11. Complete all employment verifications requested by employees after obtaining proper employee authorization. 12. Ensuring that all accounting procedures are in compliance with audit standards using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP) 13. Ensure and maintain a proper filing system for all payroll and related records. 14. Photocopying, filing and faxing of documentation as required. 15. Keep a record of all leaves of absence and update the payroll spreadsheets to ensure the correct seniority and anniversary dates are accurately maintained. 16. Complete Employment Verification forms. 17. All other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
 1. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. 2. Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code - Section III, 3. Knowledge of and experience with the principles and practices of bookkeeping. 4. Computer training and experience is essential, preferably with payroll software 5. Good working knowledge and experience in time management and organizational skills. 6. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. 7. Must: a) have a valid Ontario drivers licence b) successfully pass a criminal record check c) be willing and able to travel. 8. Be aware of the cultural environment in which Tikinagan Child and Family Services operates. 9. Appropriate educational qualifications and/or equivalent combination of a minimum of 2 years experience and training to manage the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
