The Indigenous Systems Navigator will primarily be responsible to act as an advocate for client groups within the community, support individuals facing multiple barriers accessing social and health care services, while expanding the community capacity of the Friendship Centre. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and coordinate services and support in consultation with individuals and partnering programs. This role will also respect and protect the rights of clients.

1. Preferred post-secondary education in Social Services and/or a minimum of three years' experience in social or community services environment.
2. Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
3. Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
4. Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
5. Excellent case and file management skills, stress management and time management skills.
6. Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and counselling skills.
7. Ability to make decisions in complex situations.
8. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
9. Ability to problem solve and take initiative.
10. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word.
11. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
12. Valid First Aid / CPR Certificate.
13. A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) / Vulnerable Sector Clearance will be a condition of employment.
