Employment Services


Northwest Employment Works offers a range of resources, supports and service components to respond to the career and employment needs of individuals and the skilled labour needs of employers, and can help individuals on a path to higher skill training and employment.


There are 5 components to this service;


Client Service Planning and Coordination (CSPC)

is the hub of the Employment Service and determines: 
  • if an individual is best served through independant (unassisted) or assisted job search services
  • if, needed , which assisted ES component would be of most benefit, and in which sequence
  • whether an individual needs access to other services and training supports such as Literacy or Second Career , before, during,  or after participation in the Employment Service     


Resource and Information (RI)

is an open access labour market service for the community that provides information on;
  • local training and employment opportunities
  • community service supports
  • occupational and training requirements
  • resources to support independant or "unassisted" job search, career clarification and planning,and informed education, training and employment decisions

Job Search (JS)

supports for individuals who are determined unsuccessful/unable in conducting a job search on own.
offers;
  • individualized assistance in career clarification and goal setting
  • skills and interest assessment
  • interview and employment preparation
  • support clients in planning and conducting job search based on thier individual goal setting and action plan

Job Matching,Placement and Incentives (JMPI)

Individuals referred to this level of service will receive assistance from a Job Developer in obtaining a placement opportunity
Specific employment barriers must be present, which include but are not limited to;

  • little or no work experience
  • never worked in Canada
  • language barriers

Job Training/Retention (JTR)

Some clients may need the support of additional coaching and mentoring to maintain employment or complete training to make that important next step on their career path.

Where the need for JTR is indicated participants and employers expect;
  • peer coaching and mentoring
  • more frequent monitoring
  • ongoing employment counselling during and after employment and placement
  • and access to other community supports
