Long Lake #58 First Nation (LL#58 FN), a growing and progressive First Nation, requires a Lands and Environmental Coordinator to take on the exciting challenge of assisting with the development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures related to the LL#58 FN Land Code. Long Lake #58 First Nation is located approximately 3 hours north of Thunder Bay, ON and just outside the town of Longlac, ON. The Lands and Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for the development, implementation and enforcement of land laws that are beneficial for environmental protection and economic development. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the completion of environmental site assessments and land use plans and will assist in developing operational policies and procedures according to the current priorities of LL#58 FN Lands Department, Lands Committee and Council, and will maintain the online LL#58 FN member portal.

Duties:
 - Assist the lands team in all facets of lands management: research for law development, procedures, land management policies, operational planning and evaluation. - Maintain and update work plans and budgets where required. - Develop, implement and enforce environmental policies and land laws: environmental management plan, environmental assessment, risk level assessment scale, environmental protection, governance structure and any other land and environment related activities ancillary to LL#58 FN. - Coordinate the completion of environmental site assessments and site remediations on LL#58 FN lands. - Develop a land use plan for LL#58 FN, in consultation with Council and the community. - Submit updates to the Lands and Registration Coordinator for the quarterly LL#58 FN Lands Department newsletter and maintain the online LL#58 FN member portal. - Understand the LL#58 FN Land Code and the LL#58 FN Employee Policies and Procedures. - Professionally coordinate, facilitate, and attend community and Lands Committee meetings and report to Council as required. - Attend relevant internal and external meetings, conferences, and training as required. - Prepare and submit quarterly activity reports to the Lands Manager on position duties. - Perform other duties as required by the Lands Manager.
Qualifications:
 - Post-secondary Diploma/Degree in environment, law, land management or a related field would be preferred, or equivalent training and a minimum of 2 years work experience relevant to the position. - Knowledge of environmental monitoring, sampling techniques and general land use planning would be an asset. - Ability to proficiently use Microsoft applications. - Ability to research, analyze and interpret information to write reports and correspondence. - Ability to professionally coordinate and facilitate meetings with Council, community members, lawyers, government and non-government agencies, lands staff and other departments. - Familiarity with LL#58 First Nation’s perspective in relation to lands, resources and governance. - Ability to travel and possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s License with access to own vehicle. - Must provide an updated Criminal Record Checks (CRC).
