-Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the First Nation and potentially its affiliated and subsidiary organizations, such as payroll, invoicing, cashflow forecasting and management, and other transactions
-Establish, implement, monitor and propose updates, as appropriate, to financial policies, procedures and systems for the organization.
-Manage and monitor all banking relationships including deposit and credit facilities.
-Lead and manage the annual budgeting process.
-Provide financial tools and advice to senior management and department managers.
-Oversee any subordinate staff in the financial department.
-Contract and supervise outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary.
-Monitor and analyze the organizations financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
-Seek out methods for minimizing and managing financial risks to the organization. Provide insightful information and expectations to the Council and management to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
-Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports.
- Present financial reports to Council members, management and other stakeholders in formal meetings.
-Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for finance and accounting applications.
-Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation including maintaining an awareness and working knowledge of agreements that are in place between the First Nation and external entities.
-Experience working with Aboriginal communities, organizations and governments in Canada.
-Professional designation as a Certified Management Account (CMA) (Preferred). NETMIZAAGGAMIG NISHNAABEG -Post-secondary education in finance/accounting, business, management or related technical discipline or an equivalent of education and experience.
-3 - 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a finance and accounting environment.
- Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of constantly changing demands and pressures while continuing to advance on the strategic direction of the community.
-Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of accounting (Adagio) and MS Office programs.
-Working knowledge of pertinent federal, provincial and local laws, codes, and regulations.
-Superior communication skills with ability to present and prepare clear concise administrative and financial reports, both orally and in writing.
-Effective and proven project and program planning and management capabilities.
-Effective and proven negotiation skills.
-Exceptional public relations and conflict management skills.
-Ability to use good judgment in respecting confidentially.
-Ability to identify and respond to sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns and needs to prospects.
-Valid drivers license and access to a reliable, personal vehicle.

 This is a full-time position that will be based in Mobert, Ontario at the offices of our First Nation and will demand a very high level of commitment.
