Duties:
MAJOR DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and build member relationships by providing excellent, timely and courteous services to meet the needs of members and potential members
Generate sales and sales referrals by actively promoting and cross-selling Alterna products and services
Meet or exceed personal sales and referral objectives; track and record all sales and referrals
Provide core transactional banking services to members
Ensure branch assets are properly safeguarded and that premises and equipment are maintained and that collateral documents are properly controlled
Open new memberships and accounts as required
Assist members with safe deposit box rental & access
Complete necessary documentation for access/use of night depository issuing bags and keys as required
Close memberships and accounts as required
File reports, and other credit union documents as required
Assist with ATM balancing and processing of Night Deposits
Ensuring segregation of duties, assign or PIN Member Cards Orders personalized cheques for members
Balance cash drawer daily Discuss members needs and refer to appropriate department as necessary
Answer phone courteously and promptly
Provides information to members in regards to interest rates, service charges, account histories etc. while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies
Develop and build internal relationships with other staff members, supporting branch operations to meet member service requirements and to assist with resolving issues or concerns
Actively participate in team meetings, workshops, and courses Learn and apply all policies, procedures, by-laws, and regulations including but not limited to; Proceeds of Crime, Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), Privacy Act, Robbery Prevention, Bill 168 and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
Take responsibility for personal development plan; schedule meeting with manager to discuss development plan
Assists with other duties and assignments as requested
Working Conditions Travel may be required
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
May be required to work extended hours
Must be able to meet required deadlines
Arrive at work in time to be at assigned workstation, ready to work by the appointed time
Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
High School diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of Credit Union Orientation, Teller training, Sales and Service modules Knowledge and understanding of Regulations and Acts as appropriate to the Credit Union; including but not limited to Anti Money Laundering, Privacy, Robbery Prevention, WHIMS, Workplace Violence and Harassment, Ontario Accessibility Standards Advanced knowledge of Credit Union products and services
A demonstrated ability to work with numbers and cash
High degree of accuracy with good organizational skills
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Customer service and/or sales experience is required
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Able to prioritize and make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions, weighing customer satisfaction issues with Credit Union exposure to loss or fraud
Computer proficiency in Word and Outlook is required.
Knowledge of Excel is an asset
