There really is no other career quite like it. A Career with the Reserves A members of the Reserve Force generally works part-time for a Reserve unit in their community. They are not posted or required to do a military move unless they choose to volunteer to take a short term full time contract locally or at another base. They may also volunteer for deployment on a military mission within or outside Canada. As a reservist, the choice to go is always voluntary. The main role of the Reserve Force is to support the Regular Force at home and abroad. The following position is available for part-time employment in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve Force: Naval Combat Information Operators (NCIOP) Overview As a NCIOP in the Canadian Armed Forces, you will be part of the Royal Canadian Navy, responsible the employment of the ships command and control systems, including shipboard intelligence, surveillance and recognizance systems. NCIOPS are employed to assist and advise the ship’s leadership in the conduct of naval operations such as maritime surveillance, navigation and search and rescue. Whether they are employed part-time or on a voluntary full time contract, they usually serve at a Canadian Armed Forces home port location within Canada. • NAVAL COMBAT INFORMATION OPERATOR: http://www.forces.ca/en/job/navalcombatinformationoperator-22 Pay and Benefits Reserve Force members usually serve part-time with their home unit for scheduled evenings and weekends, although they may also serve in full-time positions at some units on a short term full time contract, depending on the type of work that they do. They are paid 85% of Regular Force rates of pay, receive a reasonable benefits package and may qualify to contribute to a pension plan. Qualifications A successful candidate must: be a Canadian Citizen, be 16 years of age or older (with parental or guardian consent if under 18) meet Canadian Armed Forces medical standards successfully complete selection process, interview and examinations pass physical fitness tests The Canadian military is one of the most highly trained and respected forces in the world.
