Duties:
 A. Direct Patient Care Physiotherapy In-Patients Under the direction of the physiotherapist but acts independently: 1. Assists the physiotherapist with the assessment and treatment of patients 2. Supervise and assist patients with walking programs. Provide hands on assistance when needed to ensure patient safety. 3. Communicate progress to the physiotherapist and record appropriate information in the patient chart. 4. Supervise and assist patients on exercise programs and record appropriate information in the inpatient chart 5. Assist patients on/off rehab equipment as assigned by the physiotherapist and supervise as appropriate 6. Conduct group exercise programs 7. Supervises and assists with implementation of ADL retraining program. 8. Supervises individuals or groups during prescribed therapeutic activities. 9. Accompany/assist PT/OT in conducting home visits, discharge assessments. Physiotherapy Out-Patients 1. Assist the physiotherapist with treatment of those patients with marked disability. 2. Supervise exercise regimens established by the physiotherapist, including the use of pulleys, weights and exercise equipment. 3. Assist with stretching and range of motion routines 4. Measure, fit and instruct patients in the use of canes, crutches and walkers. Departmental and Equipment Cleaning, Maintenance 1. Maintain order in all areas of the department. 2. Maintain cleanliness of therapeutic equipment and modalities. 3. Monitor supply and distribute linen throughout the department as necessary. 4. Monitor/maintain adequate cleaning supplies for use within the department. 5. Request ordering of routine supplies and/or retrieves items from stores and put away supplies when received. 6. Maintain organization of equipment in crutch room 7. Report damaged equipment to supervisor. 8. Monitor wax bath and hydrocolator for temperature and level of wax/water; periodic drainage, cleaning and refilling of equipment. 9. Perform other duties as assigned. Administrative Duties.
Maintain, record and submit accurate workload data in accordance with Workload Measurement guidelines. Community Programs and other Third Party Services 
Conduct group exercise programs in community or third party settings
Supervise and assist patients on exercise programs in alternate third party settings, under the indirect supervision of the physiotherapist.
Qualifications:
 1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant or Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma Program. 2. Experience in clinical rehabilitation in an acute care setting within the last year will be given preference. 3. Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with rehabilitation principles and therapeutic equipment and modalities. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and windows based software programs/keyboarding skills. 5. Ability to work with little or no supervision. 6. Ability to communicate effectively in English, written and verbal. 7. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
