Reporting to the Manager of the Community Resource Team and the TBRHSC-Forensic Unit the Positive Behavioural Supports Facilitator shall perform as a member of a multidisciplinary Community Resource Team to provide strength-based person centered support.
Clinical services will be provided to both children/youth and adults with a developmental disability or dual diagnosis and specialized support will be provided to the families, caregivers and to other agencies.
This position will conduct interviews and assessments, develop and implement counselling/training and assist with the development/delivery of positive behavioural support plans.
In addition, the Positive Behavioural Supports Facilitator will develop and implement training and provide education to persons receiving services, families and support staff in Thunder Bay and the district and at various agencies, as assigned.
Position will require:
- a post-secondary education in the Human Services field (ie: Psychology, Social Work) with preference given to behavioural certifications (ie: Behaviour Analyst, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Behaviour Technician etc.)
- experience in developing positive behavioural support plans, functional assessments, and intervention programs/plans for adults and children with a developmental disability/dual diagnosis and whose support needs present challenging circumstances
- demonstrated knowledge of clinical theory and practice in behaviour analysis and rewards systems utilizing a biopsychosocial framework as well as demonstrated skills and leadership to promote and integrate behaviour therapy principles and practice amongst other staff supporting persons • experience supporting people within the criminal justice system would be a strong asset
- effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for working extensively with people who communicate using both traditional and non-traditional methods
- flexibility to meet service demands (work within hospital forensics unit, office, and community settings) • problem solving abilities and analytical skills
- an understanding of legislation such as the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008 and Regulation 299/10 and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 is required
- current certification in First Aid with CPR, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI)
- computer skills and a working knowledge of MS Office
- valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle
