Pulp operation is the most critical component of the business as it performs the core function of transforming the raw material (wood) into a value added product (paper/dissolving pulp). The key challenges faced by Pulp Production team are: Increase and stabilize production rate. Maintain high quality standard and reduce process variability. Implement cost reduction program (labour, raw material, chemicals and energy). Ensure safety in a high risk environment (pressure vessels, chemicals)

Duties:
Key accountabilities are: Monitors, ensures and reports on production : Ensure production capacity availability at all times to meet production targets by: Allocating maintenance and operating personnel to minimize downtime. Replacing personnel calling in sick. Supervising employees to ensure all operating parameters and procedures are followed. Writing maintenance work orders to ensure they are scheduled in the maintenance plan. Record events of the shift on the Tour Super Report. Monitor all aspects of the operation to minimize operating costs by: Ensuring chemical usage is optimized. Ensuring minimum staffing requirements to maintain operations. Ensuring maximum usage of equipment. Ensure to produce quality dissolving pulp on a consistent basis to meet customer requirements by: Regular monitoring of pulp quality. Ensuring corrective actions are taken to maintain quality. Ensure the mill is operated safely and according to all laws and policies by:  Monitoring jobs to ensure safety precautions are taken. Investigating safety incidents and propose corrective actions. Promote safety in the workplace by discussing with employees. Ensuring collection and sharing of data for quality control purposes. Ensure all environmental legal requirements and centre lining standards are followed by:Monitoring operation of all pollution control equipment. Investigating any non-conformance to established standards. Ascertain that corrective actions are taken immediately when there are deviations to the standards. Monitor all aspects of the operation to detect opportunities for improvements by: Maintaining good communication lines with operators to gather and re-direct good suggestions and ideas. Examining different facets of the operation to bring suggestions to department managers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's 3 years, Pulp making experience
