The Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation (NFMC) is a Crown Agency established in 2012 and the Sustainable Forest License (SFL) holder for the Pic and White River Forests in Ontario. The NFMC`s main office is in Marathon, Ontario, and is responsible for supervising all harvest, renewal and compliance reporting activities on the Pic and White River Forest Management Units.

 Duties for this position include:
- Primary field contact for the 2020 Tree Plant and Free-to-Grow programs on the Pic Forest;
-Conduct Free-to-Grow and field assessments as directed by supervisor;
- Assist with the supervision of the 2020 summer tree plant, mechanical site preparation, chemical site preparation, tree plant assessments and the aerial tending programs;
-Utilise a GPS and Samsung tablet to transfer tracking data and documenting plot information;
- Conduct health and safety inspections, environmental audits, and fire prevention inspections on contractor operations and worksites;
- Report any health and safety and compliance issues;
- Other forestry related tasks as required.
 -Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in, or in possession of, a Forestry/Natural Resource Technician Diploma/Degree;
- Must demonstrate having interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills;
- Must have equal to or greater than one year directly related experience with the NFMC;
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Must provide projects and documentation on a timely, professional, and effective manner at a highquality standard;
-Capable of demonstrating strong work ethic;
- Willing to work in inclement weather conditions, in remote locations and alone for long periods of time and be comfortable with possible wildlife encounters (bears, moose, wolf, lynx, etc.);
-Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, GPS and GIS technology;
-Knowledge of the OH&S Act and completion of Standard First-Aid is an asset;
- Possess a valid Ontario G Class Drivers License, or equivalent;
- The successful applicant must provide a) a criminal record check and b) a motor vehicle abstract prior to commencement of employment contract. The costs for these records will be reimbursed by the NFMC.
 Hours of work: 50 hours per week: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Employee will be required to work evenings and weekends
Location: Staff housing will be provided in Manitouwadge, Ontario
Estimated length of contract: Early May 2020 to August 31, 2020
