Looking for paid first time experience in Web Development? Want to put your skills to use in a meaningful way? North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB) is hiring a Web Development Intern to join us in our Thunder Bay office. The Web Development Intern reports directly to the Executive Director. This position's primary responsibility is to implement, maintain, and improve NSWPB's new suite of labour market tools (WorkSCAPE Northwest), and oversee NSWPB's main website. This is a 12-month contract position.

  Web design and development
Manage and maintain the organization's website and labour market data tools (WorkSCAPE Northwest);
Ensure the website and WorkSCAPE Northwest are visually appealing, contain updated content and a user-friendly design, and have clear navigation;
Ensure that website is operating correctly by testing for errors and checking for broken links;
Perform quality assurance on new information feeding into WorkSCAPE Northwest; including ensuring that job postings are in the correct region, assigning NOC or NAICS codes if relevant, script auto-populate features, eliminate duplicate posts, standardize lists of employer names and job titles;
Monitor website and WorkSCAPE Northwest traffic;
Work with the NSWPB team to discuss and determine updates to content and other needs for the website and WorkSCAPE Northwest; 
Correspond with contracted web developers to access support when necessary;
Research the labour market data tools and discuss configuration and implementation tasks with the vendor and developer;
Suggest possible enhancements to WorkSCAPE Northwest that NSWPB can pursue;
Review workforce development sources to familiarize oneself with the topic;
Carry out the front-end configuration and implementation tasks to get the WorkSCAPE Northwest to a workable state;
Ensure that the website and WorkSCAPE Northwest complies with the Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development Visual Identity Guidelines;
Ensure that the website and WorkSCAPE Northwest complies with AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) requirements;
Conduct routine maintenance on WorkSCAPE Northwest to identify and rectify bugs or report them to the developer if necessary;
Export data from WorkSCAPE Northwest for analysis by the Labour Market Analyst;
Identifying new information sources to draw from;
Maintain social media accounts including creating, posting and managing published content;
Produce weekly progress reports to be reviewed by supervisor and participate in regular team meetings;
Other tasks that may arise relating to the maintenance and operations of the website and Labour Market Data Tools.
University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program. The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate's field of study;
A college or university degree in computer science, communications, business, or a related field;
Experience using WordPress is required;
Some experience in graphic design is preferred;
Fluency in English essential; knowledge of French and/or other languages an asset;
Familiarity with Northwestern Ontario and/or workforce development would be assets.
