Ne-Chee Friendship Centre requires a YOUTH LIFE PROMOTION PROGRAM COORDINATOR (Contract till March 31, 2020 with possibility of extension) Ne-Chee Friendship Centre requires an enthusiastic, energetic individual to deliver its Youth Life Promotion Program. This position is responsible to the policies and directions as determined by the Board of Directors of the Friendship Centre under the direct daily supervision of the HR Manager.

Duties:
 Responsibilities: 
To support youth ages 13-24 by providing participant-based and one-to-one services
Work with Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers and youth to co-develop and implement Youth Culture Camps 
Facilitate traditional knowledge transfer, specifically on traditional teachings, language reclamation and food education
Facilitate sharing circles that include formative teaching and discussion opportunities 
Provide transmission of cultural knowledge through story-telling, traditional teachings and peer-based activities
Support the creation and development of programming for Two-Spirited and Indigenous LGBTQ+ youth
Qualifications:
 Qualifications:
Possess a post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, social work, child and youth work or combination of the equivalent and relevant education
A minimum of three years demonstrated and related work experience with children and youth
Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous cultures, histories and the impacts of colonization
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach tools
Knowledge of traditional teachings, particularly in the areas of water and land-based activities, traditional medicines, language reclamation and food education 
Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with child welfare agencies in Ontario
Strong understanding of the Child and Family Services Act and Ontario Childrens aid Societies with particular emphasis of impact on Indigenous families
Excellent communication skills both written & verbal; proficient in offering presentations
Positive attitude & demonstrated capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model
Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean driving record and access to a reliable vehicle 
Able to work flexible hours including weekends & evenings
First Aid/CPR training definite asset; Working knowledge of computers
Misc.:
 SALARY: $50,000 Annually
