What is OYAP?

It is a school to work program that opens the door for students to explore and work in apprenticeship occupations starting in Grade 11 or Grade 12 through the Cooperative Education Program. Co-op Education credits are actually Secondary School credits that you earn through the work placement.

How it works

If you are in high school - Grades 11 or 12 - you can earn co-op education credits through work placements in a skilled trade, such as;
  • automotive service technician
  • hairstylist
  • general carpenter

To qualify for the OYAP Program , you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be enrolled in full time high school
  • have earned at least 16 credits
