We are seeking an Accountant to provide general accounting, financial and administrative services as well as backup for Payroll and Accounts Payable among other duties.

Reporting to the Manager, Administration, the Accountant will be responsible for providing accounting, financial and administrative services. This includes general accounting duties, Cost Control, General Ledger accounts reconciliations. This person will also serve as backup for Payroll and Accounts Payable among other duties.

Duties:
 
  • Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and community relations concerns and regulations
  • Ensure clear communication within the company regarding accounting and finance matters
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Assist with and perform period end closure
  • Assist Project Controls and Corporate Accounting with month end procedures
  • Prepare accounting journal entries
  • GL accounts reconciliations
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of cost reports
  • Analyze and review accounting reports for detailed operational departmental cost
  • Assist in establishing processes and procedures for controlling and monitoring costs
  • Provide backup assistance with Payroll and Accounts Payable
  • Provide administrative support
  • Maintain a filing system for financial documents
  • Prepare financial working papers for use by auditors
  • General assistance for ad-hoc analysis, reports, modelling as required
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
 

 

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Previous experience in a construction or mining environment is an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word)
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meeting deadlines is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, good work ethic and ability to work independently as required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off (10 hour days).
  • Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
  • Magino promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).
