Description:

The Thunder Bay Museum seeks an intern with some knowledge and experience in digitalization of records that will be trained to use film projection, recording, scanning equipment, and software to digitize and catalog reel-to-reel film, magnetic tape records, still photographs, negatives, and documents.  Interns once trained will use those skills to work with staff, volunteers, and the Museum’s partners (ShebaFilms / Friends of the Finnish Labour Temple) on the Reel Memories of the Lakehead Project.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES (Training to be provided):
1. Handling and preservation of reel-to-reel film, audio tape, and other formats;
2. Digitalization and cataloging of archival audio/visual media to archival standards;
3. Digital media editing;
4. Archival research;
5. Digital archival practices;
6. Database management;
7. Social media and writing skills.

Qualifications:
 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Skilled in productivity software (Adobe, Microsoft);
2. Be enrolled in or have completed some or all of postsecondary education related to history
museums, or a related field;
3. Ontario Class G Drivers License.

This position is funded by NOHFC as an Indigenous Workforce Development Stream position and the successful candidate will be asked to complete NOHFC’s Verification Report form for eligibility.
